Smallbore Prone 1600 Match
After the USA Shooting and NRA National Matches in July, 3-Positon/ Prone International Shooters were scarce. I am told by good sources (their parents) that they need a rest. Though few, the shooters in attendance made a good showing, but couldn’t keep up with veteran shooter Larry Sawyer.
These matches are shot on the A-50 International Target at 50 Meters. The international targets are the most unforgiving target you will ever shoot on with metallic sights. Vinny and Ryan – Juniors and relatively new to International, did a fine job. When it was all done Larry Sawyer took home high honors.
Sunday brought out a good bunch of shooters. Adults outnumbered the Junior shooters 2 to 1. Shooting conditions were great for the 1600 point match. The 50 yard match started out with some serious scores being made – 4 cleans with Stacey Tamulinas and Erik Rhode being tied with 33 X’s. The Dewar Match (50 & 100 Yard metallic sight) was hotly contested with a pair of 399’s with Stacey holding the lead on X’s. The 100 yard any sight match separated the Smallbore Shooters from the High Power guys. Eric Hazelton posted a 400-30 X to lead the way. Eric Hazelton finished off the competition in the 50 Meter Match posting a 400-34X to win the day with a score of 1599-115X. Buy the way Eric is still a Junior Shooter! He can’t wait for a rematch at the State Championship in two weeks!
