July 4, 2016: A Day in the Life - Independence Day
I hope you are all well-rested from our holiday weekend. I know I am! For the third year in a row, Erik and I spent the weekend down at Lazy D Campground in Altura, MN. It's a great little spot not far from Whitewater State Park. No internet, no cell phones, no mosquitos. Just peace and quiet - except for the occasional outburst from fellow campers playing an intense game of Bean Bag Toss or life-size Jenga. We spent most of our time reading and napping... and lots of eating. Evenings were spent by the campfire, and Sunday we went on our traditional 2 hour canoe ride down the winding Whitewater River.
The 4th of July always brings back memories of past BBQ's and a family get-together, but what many forget, myself included, is the real reason we celebrate this particular day, our Independence Day. So if you haven't already, take a moment to ponder the real reason we celebrate this important day and read the following article. You might learn something new from it... I know I did.
