May 14-15 Service Rifle OTC and EIC Match began with snow, 32 degree temp and NW winds 15-20 mph. The day ended at a balmy 37 degrees with 15 shooters braving the cold. The big gun for the day was Matt Griffin, with a score of 783-22x.

Sunday was a lot warmer. High 40’s to low 50’s with much milder NW winds. Four distinguished and 11 non distinguished shooters signed up to shoot for Leg points. Matt Griffin shot an impressive 490-14X to win the Gold. Dan Marquart received the Silver and the Bronze went to Larry Widell.

Non distinguished awards went to Leg winner Mark Havlik (467) along with a Silver medal. The Bronze went to Tim Thole along with a “leather” sling. Mark now has 36 points and no distinguished pin! This leg is not considered a “hard” Leg due to the fact we were five shooters short. It was suggested that Mark should have brought up some of his VFW shooters!

Lorne Smith and Brett Kratt ran the match as smooth as silk. They also raised the bar so high that it will be very difficult to improve on. Match fees included a meal on Saturday evening. One inch thick cut pork tenderloin steaks, baked potatoes and baked beans. No one left hungry! They even provided bottled water and Gatorade during the match.

CONGRATULATIONS to the winners and THANK YOU to all who contributed to running the match!
