July 9 & 10, 2016 brought two days of Smallbore action to the Minneapolis Rifle Club Range. Saturday USA Shooting Matches, all shot on the metric target, brought out a good group of Junior shooters. Many of the Juniors were tuning up for the 3 Position National Matches in Bristol, Indiana. The morning featured 3 Positon Match followed by an “English” Prone Match. A lot of very good scores were posted on the metric target. When it was all said and done, 20 year old Joseph Martin from Emerado, ND, held match winner honors for both matches.
Sunday’s NRA Prone Match saw some new faces different faces and old friends. For the first time in a several matches the adults outnumbered the Juniors! This was probably due to the fact a lot of Smallbore shooters were at the National Prone Matches in Bristol, IN. Many good scores were posted. It is worth noting that the Juniors shooting Sunday are relatively new competitors and are posting very good scores for the limited time they have been shooting. Joseph Martin from Emerado, ND, only dropped 2 points for match winner honors!
