Oreo Truffles

You had me at Oreo! I came across these little gems several years ago, and it was almost an out of body experience.  A self-contained treat that couldn't get any better, just did.  Oreos cookies mixed with cream cheese is about as good as it gets, and when it's rolled into a little ball that can be consumed in one bite, even better!  I like to think of them as the sophisticated sibling of it's original cookie form.

Oreo Truffles

Ingredients:

1 package Double Stuffed Oreos

4 ounces Cream Cheese (softened to about room temperature)

Dipping Chocolate - (I prefer Kraft Bakers Premium White Chocolate)

Directions:

Thoroughly chop Oreos in a food processor or by hand.  Take out 3 Tbsp and set aside to use as a garnish later.  Using your hands or a spoon, add in the cream cheese and mix until completely blended with the finely chopped up Oreos.  I use my hands because it's faster and easier to get everything mixed together.  Roll into 1 inch balls and place on a wax paper covered cookie sheet.  Place in freezer for about 15 minutes.  Melt the white chocolate in the microwave in increments of 30 seconds, stirring in between until completely melted.  Dip the frozen truffles into melted chocolate and place on a wax paper lined cookie sheet.  Garnish immediately with a sprinkle of the previously saved crushed Oreos.  Repeat process until all truffles are dipped and garnished.  Place into fridge until chocolate is firmly set.  Store in an air tight container in the fridge until ready to serve.

* Depending on the occasion, you can garnish with something different.  I used red and green sprinkles for Christmas.  Have fun and be creative!

* I use fondue skewers for dipping the Truffles.

* I have tried different brands of white chocolate for dipping, but I prefer Kraft Bakers Premium White Chocolate for Baking.  It melts to a smooth consistency and has a great taste.
