July 2016: CMP National Junior Olympic 3P Air Rifle Championships – Camp Perry, Ohio

MN Juniors Compete at the National Junior Olympic 3 Position Precision Air Rifle Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio.


Abigail Buesseler, Dana Buesseler, Elizabeth Ewert, Kamilla Kisch and Samantha Peterson, competed as the MN Centershots Precision Air Rifle Team at the 2016 National 3 – Position Precision Air Rifle (PAR) Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio, July 2016.  Accompanying the team as acting coach was Bill Buessler.  Team coaches Liz and Steve Powell could not attend the matches this year.

Day 1 was the National Junior Olympic 3PAR Championship.  The team finished 1st, breaking an American Legion Record with a score of 2356-165!  Beating the old record score of 2327-142 previously held by MN Centershots set back in June 2011! Samantha Peterson finished 3rd in the event.

On Day 2 was the CMP National 3PAR Championship.  The team finished 2nd, just 6 points out of first place.  Samantha Peterson made the finals in 8th place.  She had the highest scores in finals moving her from that 8th place start to finish in 2nd place, just .6 points from finishing first!

With Samantha’s two day aggregate scores she had a great second place finish overall, just 3.1 points out of first!  Moving onto college this fall, Sam will be competing with the University of Nebraska Rifle team!  Good luck Samantha!

Of special note, Grace Taschuk was awarded her Junior Distinguished Expert medal #1062.
