CONGRATS TO BRAD YLINIEMI!!! 2018 International Shooting Sports Federation World Championships – Changwon, South Korea.

Congratulations to Brad Yliniemi for being chosen to represent Minnesota and the U.S. at the 2018 International Shooting Sports Federation World Championships in Changwon, South Korea!

Dear Fellow Shooters,

The Minneapolis Rifle Club and Northwestern Gun Club were founded over 75 years ago to help Minnesota Shooters compete in National and International Competition.  MRC has fielded several shooters that have gone to the Olympics and World Championships for 300 Meter and Smallbore Rifle.  Northwestern Gun Club has many National Level shooters.  Minnesota is again fortunate to have a club member representing the United States at the 2018 World Championships.

Minneapolis Rifle Club and Northwestern Gun Club Member Brad Yliniemi was selected to be a member of the U.S. Team for the 2018 International Shooting Sports Federation World Championships in Changwon, South Korea this September.  Brad is one of ten selected by USA Shooting to make up the US Men’s Rifle Team for this year’s World Championship.  Brad will be competing in two 300 meter rifle events for Team USA: Men’s 3x40 and Standard Rifle.

The ISSF World Championships have been held with regularity since 1897, except during the World Wars.  The championships are held once every four years, offset two years to the Summer Olympics, and will host approximately 4500 shooting athletes from all over the world to compete in a variety of international rifle, pistol, and shotgun events.  The ISSF World Championships offer a large field of events and is only second in prestige to the Olympics.

In the USA, our International Shooting Governing Body, USA Shooting, does not offer travel support to athletes competing in non-Olympic International events like 300 meter rifle. Despite being one of the two premier forms of internationally contested centerfire rifle competition (ICFRA Fullbore is the other), there is no organization in the U.S. offering support to 300 meter rifle athletes.  To help fund the trip to Korea, Brad has started a Go Fund Me page.  Brad is trying to raise $4000.00 to cover the costs of travel, shipping rifles/ammo and lodging.

If you wish to help support our U.S. Shooting Team member, Brad’s Go Fund Me page address is:  https://www.gofundme.com/brad039s-world-championship-fund

Good Shooting,

George Minerich, MRRA President
