This past weekend I celebrated a birthday (yes, I’m 21… again), took a trip down to Iowa to stay with our friends, and shot a 600 Yard match at Des Moines Rifle & Revolver Club. Shooting a rifle match on my birthday? Yes, that’s what I chose to do, well, that’s not all I did. So, did you know that downtown Des Moines has a HUGE farmer’s market? Well they do, and it’s pretty much like going to the MN State Fair! Food everywhere, vendors selling a variety of things… did I mention the food? And it just so happened that the World Food Festival was also going on. WOOHOO! The rest of the day was spent getting a pedicure at Rio Nail Bar, which was fabulous, and home to take a snooze before dinner. Dinner was awesome! If you get a chance, you need to go to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse. Order the Betta Bruschette and the Roasted Banana Cheesecake – AMAZING!
Sunday I spent the day at the range and did pretty good until the end. I did manage to win $2.00 from in the second match, so the was quite the victory for me!
It was the perfect birthday weekend – friends, food, and shooting! I have it my way, I’ll be doing the same thing next year!
BIG THANK YOU to the Dietrichs for putting us up in their Grandparents Suite. First Class all the way!
